The Coal Creek Miners Museum currently occupies the first floor of the building. When the museum was purchased to house the collection, the plans were to occupy the second floor but we are unable to because of ADA regulations. An elevator has to be installed to meet ADA regulations. Therefore, the board embarked on a capital campaign to install an elevator and remodel the second floor to meet building requirements.
The Coal Creek Miners Museum received a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission for $75,000 to conduct the remodel of the second floor and install an elevator at the museum. This renovation will allow the museum to double the exhibit space.
The grant does have to be match so the museum board is currently trying to raise $75,000 to complete the project. If you would like to contribute and help us expand our exhibit space, please mail donations to P.O.
